Nepal's Pioneer Bank Joins Nepal's Leading Interoperable QR Payment Network

Fonepay Payment Service Limited (Fonepay) today announced the formal onboarding of Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) onto the Fonepay network. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Nepal's digital payment ecosystem, uniting the nation's most expansive payment infrastructure with its most celebrated pioneer in private commercial banking.

Established in 1993 as Nepal's reputed private sector bank, Himalayan Bank has long been synonymous with trust, innovation, and financial leadership and is widely recognized as a pioneer in introducing modern banking services. With a network spanning across Nepal and a loyal customer base built over three decades, HBL's integration into the Fonepay network is poised to accelerate digital payment adoption at scale—bringing seamless QR-based transactions to millions of Himalayan Bank account holders nationwide.

The partnership is currently in the technical integration phase. HBL customers will be able to transact seamlessly across the Fonepay network upon successful completion of the integration process.
